At the turn of the 20th century, around 1900, life expectancy of an average person was 50 years old. Today, in our society, the average life expectancy of a man is 78 and a woman's is approximately 83 years old. Now, do you feel old, burned out, with the best years behind you, and you're just Fifty-Something?
Do your kids look at you as though there is no way you could have brought them into the world by having sex? Much less, not only be still having it but enjoying it even more? It is a known fact that at the age of 60 the body kicks in for most people of normal health, as a new cycle and lease on life. This has been referred to by some as almost like feeling being 'reborn' - thus the term evolved "A New Lease On Life".
There is an old saying that "youth is wasted on the young". That saying means that as we grow older and mature we can really start appreciating life because of the wisdom we have gained by the follies, faults, and failures from our younger years. But quite the opposite is happening. You're not getting older, you are getting better. Hopefully wiser and far more skilled than your teenage children think they are because they can type faster than you on their computers.
I've been a singer, songwriter and producer for 40 years and every time I go into the studio, I feel like I gain more confidence with my skills. I continually feel that I am becoming better at my craft than the time before. I look back on days gone by when I felt that I knew it all, but I was only just getting started in understanding my business, my craft and my creative abilities.
My hope is that you will put this idea that you are 'burned out' - out of your head - and bring forth your ideas that are now just catching on fire. So if you're feeling that it's 'all over', then let that go and realize that you're only beginning, and that you are indeed a BOOM BABY. So ROCK ON!!!!!!
The only thing that slows down my brain is listening to politicians' promises.
For inspiration - I'm in my 50's, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, The WHO are all in their late 60's and are still touring with their bands. Charlie Daniels is 75 and just finished a new CD and is also on tour. Willie Nelson remembers the day he got off the Ark with Noah and even HE is still touring.
My new song 'BOOM BABIES' from my CD Album 'I'VE BEEN THINKING' - SAYS IT ALL. Hear it right now @ http://www.ilike.com/artist/Bryant+Sterling+aka+Denis+Lee+Bryant/track/BOOM+BABIES
It would be great to hear your thoughts and opinions in your comments below.
Thank You, Bryant.

1) love the haircut (visual "r" us as I tend to think visually)
ReplyDelete2) nice take on this one Bryant. You should take a listen to JD Souther's new cd-- it's AWESOME and every bit as good as his stuff from say 20+ years ago with Jackson Browne, the Eagles and everyone he's every worked with.. though I did have to do some homework to find that out.
Since my mom was huge music fan of jazz, rock & pop, I grew up listening to things that was a blend of all kinds of stuff.
It's nice to see the people don't just give up and retire and figure life is over. You are only as old as you allow yourself to be. If you feel 25 or 30, live like it philosophically speaking. Don't give up the dynamic to be who you are and what you feel.
LOL THANKS for the haircut review! Yes you're right, JD Souther is one of the GREATS, but if I tried to list ALL the greats, there would not be enough room here.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, you should live how you feel unless you're 50 and your mind is still telling you that you're 16 because you won't be going to Juvenile Detention for your mistakes.
You seem to have certainly understood the message I am trying to convey. So you are INDEED A BOOM BABY! So KEEP THE FAITH AND ROCK ON!
Take care, Bryant.
